Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data ExpatSicily collects, why, and what you can do about it, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Last updated 16 August 2026

The short version

This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no advertising scripts, and loads no fonts or assets from third-party servers. If you don’t subscribe to the newsletter, we hold no personal data about you at all.

What we collect, and why

Newsletter

The newsletter is not open for subscriptions yet, so no email addresses are being collected. This section describes what will happen once it opens: we will collect your email address and the record of your consent, on the legal basis of consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), for the sole purpose of sending the newsletter, and only after you tick a box saying so.

Server logs

Our hosting provider processes standard technical data needed to serve the site — including your IP address — for security and to make pages load. These logs are short-lived and are not used to identify you.

Cookies

We use none. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no social plugins. That is why you are not seeing a cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to. If this ever changes, this notice will be updated first and consent requested where required.

Who else processes your data

  • Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting and domain infrastructure, acting as data processor for the technical data described above.

Beyond these, your data is not disclosed to anyone, except where we are legally obliged to do so.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask what data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • ask us to restrict or stop processing it;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

Since the site currently collects no personal data, there is nothing to request. Full controller and contact details will be published here before subscriptions open. If you believe your data has been mishandled, you can complain to your national data protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali .

Changes

If this notice changes materially, we will update the date at the top and, for anything that affects subscribers, say so in the newsletter.
